Almost December

There is much excitement in our house as December nears.  There are birthdays, holiday parties, cookies to be baked, Christmas trees to decorate, lights to be hung, Christmas cards to be mailed and received, Christmas movies to be watched and re-watched, and Christmas music to be played on repeat.  It is my favorite time of the year.  Today we are baking pecan pies for Thanksgiving with the extended Santos family.  The kids, as always, were part of the pie making process.  It's taken us all morning, but we made two crusts and pies from scratch.  At one point, Berkley and Nan took a break to make a baby fort in the dining room.  Oh - and this morning Berkley nearly screamed with joy when he heard he didn't have to go to school!  The first thing he asked, "can we wear pjs all day?"  You know it, son.

Toes in the sand

It still amazes me that our toes can be in the sand in an hour and fifteen minutes from Richmond.  Lazy morning, drive to the beach, lunch and then home in time for naps.

Home

No matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live there than in any other country, be it ever so beautiful. There is no place like home.
